Spectrum of Coverage:
Gram-Positive Bacteria:
- Streptococcus pneumoniae
- Streptococcus pyogenes
Gram-Negative Bacteria:
- Haemophilus influenzae
- Moraxella catarrhalis
Atypical Bacteria:
- Chlamydophila pneumoniae
- Mycoplasma pneumoniae
Mechanism of Action:
Works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, thus inhibiting translation of mRNA.
Indications:
- Acute Otitis Media (6 months of age and older)
- Acute bacterial sinusitis
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia (6months of age and older)
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis (2 years of age andolder)
Dosage & Administration:
Acute Otitis Media: 30 mg/kg as a single dose or 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days
Acute Bacterial Sinusitis: 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days.
Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 10 mg/kg as a single dose on Day 1 followed by 5 mg/kg once daily on Days 2 through 5.
Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis: 12 mg/kg once daily for 5 days

AZIPOL100 / AZIPOL XL100 are Oral Suspension available as 15ml & 30ml packs respectively.
AZIPOL200 / AZIPOL XL200 are Oral Suspension available as 15ml & 30ml packs respectively.
