Spectrum of Coverage:

Active against the larval forms ofthe following organism

  • Echinococcusgranulosus
  • Taeniasolium
  • Strongyloidesstercoralis
  • Onchocerca volvulus

Mechanism of Action:

Albendazole: It works by inhibiting protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit & directly preventing the formation of bacterial protein. On a molecular level, chloramphenicol inhibits the attachment of transfer RNA to the A site on the 50S ribosome.

Ivermectin: It selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyper-polarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and

  • Secondary Treatment of Cutaneous Larva Migrans
  • Microsporidiosis& Secondary Microsporidiosis Prophylaxis

  • Trichuriasis (Whipworm Infection)

Dosage & Administration:

Onchocerciasis: Albendazole 400mgplus Ivermectin0.15 mg/kg as Single Dose to be repeated as per condition of patients.

Strongyloidiasis: Albendazole 400mg plus Ivermectin 0.20 mg/kg as Single Dose to be repeated as per condition of patients.

Cutaneous larva migrans: Albendazole: 5 mg/kg/day plus Ivermectin 0.2 mg/kg/dose to be repeated as per conditionof patients.
