Composition:

DISOPOD 50 DRY SYRUP: Each 5ml contains Cefpodoxime 50mgin 30ml pack.

DISOPOD 100 DRY SYRUP: Each 5ml contains Cefpodoxime 100mg in 30ml pack.

Spectrum of Coverage

Gram-positive bacteria:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible strains, including those producing penicillinases)
  • Staphylococcus saprophyticus
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae (excluding penicillin-resistant isolates)
  • Streptococcus pyogenes

Gram-negative bacteria:

  • Escherichia coli
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Proteus mirabilis
  • Haemophilus influenzae (including beta-lactamase producing isolates)
  • Moraxella catarrhalis
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including penicillinase-producing isolates)

Mechanism of Action:

Shows bactericidal action by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Active against some beta-lactamases, both penicillinasesand cephalosporinases, of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.

Indications:

  1. Acute otitis media
  2. Pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis
  3. Community-acquired pneumonia
  4. Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
  5. Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
  6. Acute maxillary sinusitis
  7. Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
