Spectrum of Coverage: 

Aerobic Gram-Positive Microorganisms:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (including β-lactamase producing strains)
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae
  • Streptococcus pyogenes

Aerobic Gram-Negative Microorganisms:

  • Haemophilus influenzae (including β-lactamase producing strains)
  • Haemophilus parainfluenzae (including β-lactamase producing strains)
  • Moraxella catarrhalis (including β-lactamase producing strains)

Mechanism of Action:

Bactericidal activity of cefdinir results from inhibition ofcell wall synthesis & it is stable in the presence of some, but not all, β-lactamase enzymes.

Indications:

  • Acute Bacterial Otitis Media
  • Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis
  • Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections
  • Acute Maxillary Sinusitis
  • Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP)

Paediatric Patients (Age 6 Months Through 12 Years)
