Spectrum of Coverage:
Gram-positive bacteria (β-lactamase Producing Strains)
- Streptococcus pneumoniae
- Streptococcus pyogenes
Gram-negative bacteria (β-lactamase Producing Strains)
- Haemophilus influenzae
- Moraxella catarrhalis
- Escherichia coli
- Proteus mirabilis
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Mechanism of Action:
Shows bactericidal action by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Indications:
- Typhoid fever / Quinolone-Resistant Uncomplicated Typhoid Fever
- Otitis Media
- Pharyngitis & Tonsillitis
- Acute Bacterial Sinusitis
- Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
- Infectious Diarrhoea & Gastroenteritis, including Shigellosis.
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia due to Haemophilus influenzae
Dosage & Administration:
Paediatric Patients (6 months or older): 8mg/kg/day of the suspension & may be administered as a single daily dose or may be given in two divided doses, as 4mg/kg every 12 hours.
Duration of therapy: Ranges from 3 to 14 Days depending on type & severity of Infection
