Otopolis Eardrops

Composition: Each 5 mL of Otopolis Ear Drops contains Gentamicin 0.3% w/v, Clotrimazole 1% w/v, Lignocaine Hydrochloride 2% w/v, Beclomethasone Dipropionate 0.025% w/v in a 5ml pack.

Therapy/Class: Otic Anti-infective & Anti-inflammatory Agent

Mechanism of Action:

  • Gentamicin: An aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, leading to bacterial cell death.
  • Clotrimazole: An antifungal agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, leading to cell leakage and death.
    Lignocaine
  • Hydrochloride: A local anesthetic that blocks nerve signal transmission by inhibiting sodium ion channels, providing pain relief.
  • Beclomethasone Dipropionate: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by suppressing the release of inflammatory mediators and inhibiting immune response.

Indications:

  • Otitis externa (outer ear infections).

Dosage & Administration:

For Adults and Children 6 Years and Older:

  • Instill 3–4 drops into the infected ear three times daily.

Otopolis is supplied in 5 mL plastic dropper bottles.
