Therapy/Class: Otic Anti-infective & Anti-inflammatory Agent
Mechanism of Action:
- Gentamicin: An aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, leading to bacterial cell death.
- Clotrimazole: An antifungal agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, leading to cell leakage and death.
Lignocaine - Hydrochloride: A local anesthetic that blocks nerve signal transmission by inhibiting sodium ion channels, providing pain relief.
- Beclomethasone Dipropionate: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by suppressing the release of inflammatory mediators and inhibiting immune response.
Indications:
- Otitis externa (outer ear infections).
Dosage & Administration:
For Adults and Children 6 Years and Older:
- Instill 3–4 drops into the infected ear three times daily.
How Supplied:
Otopolis is supplied in 5 mL plastic dropper bottles.
