Therapy/Class: Ant allergic / Second Generation Antihistamines
Mechanism of Action:
It is an antihistamine with selective peripheral H1 -receptor antagonist activity. Both enantiomers of fexofenadine hydrochloride displayed approximately equipotent antihistaminic effects. Fexofenadine inhibits histamine release from peritoneal mast cells. No sedative or other central nervous
system effects were observed.
Indications:
- Perennial Allergies & Seasonal Allergies, Including Allergic Rhinitis
- Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria
Dosage & Administration:
- Children 2-11 years: 30 mg orally twice daily.
- Infants & children (6 months to 2 years): 15 mg orally twice daily.
