Therapy / Class: Antacid / Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)
Mechanism of Action:
It inhibits the gastric H+, K+-ATPase (the proton pump) which catalyzes the exchange of Hydrogen & Potassium Ion which in turn is responsible for Acid Formulation. It is effective in the inhibition of both basal acid secretion & stimulated acid secretion.
Indications: Short-Term Treatment of
1 to 11 years of age:
- Symptomatic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Erosive Esophagitis (EE)
12 to 17 years of age:
- Non-erosiveGERD
- Erosive Esophagitis (EE)
- Maintenanceof Healing ofEE
- Pathological Hyper-secretoryConditions IncludingZollinger-Ellison Syndrome(ZES)
